Certification is an integral part of your growth and success as a privacy professional. The IAPP is the first organization to develop and launch quality credentialing programs that serve today’s rapidly evolving privacy industry. Our programs range from introductory courses intended for all levels of experience to advanced courses in government and international privacy that require a higher level of understanding.

The Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
is the essential foundation course for any professional working in privacy today or entering the field for the first time. The CIPP addresses the fundamentals of U.S. and E.U. privacy laws, technologies and operational best practices. It is the first, broad-based certification in information management and is made possible through founding grants from Hewlett-Packard Company and Microsoft Corporation.

The Certified Information Privacy Professional/Government (CIPP/G)
is an advanced course designed exclusively for officers and employees of U.S. federal and state government agencies as well as vendor companies that serve U.S. government clients. The CIPP/G was created by the IAPP in coordination with leading privacy officers in U.S. government and is the first, publicly available credential in government privacy. It is made possible through the generous support of IBM Corporation.

The Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C)
is the first international credential ever to be offered by the IAPP and focuses on the unique privacy issues and regulatory environment in Canada, its provinces and territories. It is the result of a joint effort between the IAPP and Canadian privacy experts from Deloitte & Touche LLP, IBM Canada Ltd., TELUS Communications, Microsoft Corporation, TD Bank Financial Group and RBC Financial Group. Deloitte is the founding grantor of the CIPP/C program.
